To The Single One On Valentine’s Day

Today is such a great day! Today we celebrate relationships, friendships, it is the day of LOVE! We see the balloons, flowers, gifts, celebrations all around.

However, I recognize this day is not easy for everyone. Maybe you are the single person who never celebrated Valentine’s Day before, or the one who just got out of a relationship and this is your first Valentine’s Day single again. Or maybe your lover is no longer here, and this is your first or 2nd Valentine’s Day without that special person. We all come from different walks of life, I don’t know where you stand. This might be a day of heartache, strong emotion of missing someone, loneliness, or simply an overall reminder of what is not. People love to say, “I understand, it is hard”, or “It’ll be okay, enjoy your singleness.” I am not that person, and I will not say those things, but I will say something!

Let today be a day you meditate on the LOVE of GOD! His love is unconditional! His love is greater and deeper than any human love! What I love about God, is there is nothing we can do to separate from his love!

“35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”[c]

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35-39 NKJV)

I am not minimizing the pain or hurt this day can bring, I am here to remind you as long as you have Jesus, you have MORE than enough love! If we had all the love we desired but we didn’t have Jesus, it would mean nothing at all. The same way, without Jesus, all the love in the world does not suffice.

Today has been the greatest Valentine’s Day since I was in 2nd grade, honestly. I wore red for the first time in years, I brought candies in a heart shaped bowl for my co workers, and I have been at peace all day. What has changed? This year started off very difficult, and the enemy probably assumed this day would be the hardest yet. That is not the case, I have the greatest love of all and it doesn’t change with the day. On my worse days, people did not fill the gap, and on my best they do not either. His love is what makes me smile and I pray it will do the same for you!

With Love,

Kristen
